Check out this fascinating experiment in digital fiction launched by Penguin. Six digital stories in six weeks written by well-known authors and inspired by classics. Charles Cumming tells his story ‘The 21 Steps’ (Yes, you guessed it, John Buchan’s 39 Steps) through Google Maps! ‘Fairy Tales’ (Hans Christian Anderson) involves the reader in choosing who/what goes into the story. The final story is due on 22nd April.

I loved reading the series of 9 books by Alexander McCall Smith and was thrilled to bits to watch the dramatisation of the first book, ‘The Number 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’, on BBC1 recently . The characters were just as I had imagined them and the Botswana setting was stunning. Highly recommend you read them all!
